“LEONARDO, LUINI, MICHELANGELO – THREE GEMS OF THE ITALIAN RENAISSANCE"

This 3 hour tour starts on a high with Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper masterpiece at Santa Maria delle Grazie and Donato Bramante’s impressive Renaissance-style mausoleum chapel for Ludovico Sforza, continues at convent Church of San Maurizio, reputed as painter Bernardino Luini’s most amazing accomplishment, a caleidoscope of colours and beauty that doesn’t quite fit with the simple and nondescript façade overlooking Corso Magenta. But the climax is reached at the Sforza Castle, the once gloomy citadel transformed into a sumptuous residence by the Sforza dynasty. Here you will admire in the recently inaugurated  Museum of the Pietà one of the most extraordinary works of art by Michelangelo Buonarroti, his late and unfinished  Pietà Rondanini, a sorrowful  meditation upon the theme of death and motherly love. A veritable masterpiece left unfinished by the elder master when he passed away in 1564

ENGLISH guided tour. Duration: h. 3.00 (including a total of approximately 35’ walking time).
